“An ancient underwater portal…
…that appeared in the English Channel 35 years ago, the exact moment a particular human was born on the mainland nearby”.
Beginnings of ‘Ocean Gateway’ - a scene from my unwritten story.
A Sketched Scene From My Story - Charcoal on Paper
This was the first time in a long while since I’ve used charcoal and I loved it due to the high dark values it gives.
I used a pink highlighter pen to show where I wanted the glow to come from.
The Major Oak in Sherwood Forest
This summer, I took a solo trip to Sherwood Forest in Nottingham. It was the furthest I’d driven since passing my test two years ago. The main reason going on my own was to work on my confidence. It’s easy to fall into routines and without realising it, make your life smaller. Being out in nature allowed my mind to slow down which gave way to new ideas for scenes to paint and how an imagined scene from my story can transition into another creating chapters.
Here are some process shots of the creation of ‘Ocean Gateway’ - I used an underpainting in acrylics then used some spray paints and a waxed marker followed by acrylic paint.

Coming Soon
I’m creating a Print Club where, each month, subscribers will receive an exclusive 5 × 7 inch art print of a painted scene from my story.
These prints won’t be available to purchase anywhere else. They will be created exclusively for Print Club members.
Each monthly envelope will also include a character or world-inspired sticker and a piece of writing from that particular scene. Something that won’t be published on my blog, social media, or anywhere else.
A little piece of my story and its world, delivered through the post each month.
To be notified when my print club is available sign up to my newsletter here.
